If I told you that there’s a version of you that’s already rich, would you believe me? That there’s a version of you already driving the luxe car, existing in the Cosmos. Can yon see the commas in your bank account? Can you feel the pedal and steering wheel? It may be hard to envision, but trust me, They’re real.
Now, the following might get a little complicated, but I will do my best to simplify the concept as much as I can so you can “firmly grasp it” (Bonus points if you know that reference).
So, while I attended Howard University, during my final semester of Undergrad (Class of '17!) I took Metaphysics to satisfy a Philosophy credit. Believe it or not, my professor who grew up in West Africa and held a doctorate in Philosophy taught the class about the African Traditional Religion of Ifa; specifically about the Spiritual Body system. (Regretfully, I do not remember my professor’s name, nor do I have access to any of my old notes, assignments, or exams. So please bear with me)
The very first lesson we learned was regarding the different parts of the body in Yoruba. Our professor drew a simple human figure on the board and put brackets by the head, the right arm, the left leg and the torso. He labeled the head first, and told us that in the Yoruba language, the Head is called your Ori.
In Ifa, it is believed that your Ori is your soul’s own personal piece of God, that is meant to guide you toward your destiny. Could also be thought of as your conscience, your Ori’s duty is to get you closer to fulfilling your Life’s Purpose; the Purpose you chose prior to incarnating on Earth. The other parts of the body (which we’ll touch on further in a future blog post), are charged with the task of following the direction the Ori provides, however, you consciously control those parts through Free Will, and can make any decisions and take any actions you choose. This is what determines the speed at which you achieve your destiny.
So, what does all of that have to do with your Higher Self? Well, your Ori is your Higher Self. It’s the version of you that has already fulfilled your Purpose. It’s the part of you that hears the voice of God clearly, and acts on Their direction with full faith. So who better to provide you with guidance than them? Your Higher Self is actively trying to connect with you everyday, several times a day. Those moments when you have a random spark of inspiration, or when you catch a sign in a song or a license plate, your Higher Self is poking you. Trying to nudge you to do the thing, call that friend, take the long way home, etc.
